Today, October 24th, is our ninth wedding anniversary. Right now it is almost 4 PM. At 4 PM nine years ago, I was doing my hair and putting on my makeup.
This year, I am sitting here with my leg put up as I’m healing from my foot surgery. Tony is at work. I just went through some of our wedding pictures that are saved in my space here. And, really over the past few years I have said a million things about how amazing my husband is.
my best friend.
the most incredible husband anyone could ask for.
I love you, Tony.
Happy ninth Anniversary, baby.

Today was my follow-up with my surgeon. It looks good, even with the amount of bleeding I had, and the stitches that popped.
I am in a fairly large amount of pain, still, so I’m quite miserable. I’m in a new half-cast for the next 2 weeks. Completely no weight bearing.
Everything went good other than finding out that I have a good bit of tissue damage from the tourniquet that is used during the surgery. My calf and shin were pretty damn sore, so this explains that. I have to keep an eye on it, and make sure that if I feel any odd pain, or shortness of breath to go to the ER.
Since my Dad almost died from a pulmonary embolism following an achiless tendon surgery. So, yeah it’s pretty hard to deal with. But, I’ll make it through.
And, with this, I’m hurting and tired, so I’ll close. Oh, below there are 2 pictures of my incision and bloody foot. They aren’t pretty but, they didn’t bother me as medicine fascinates me.
Have a good day.
My first surgery is done. My right foot is now encased in a half-cast, dressings and ice. It hurts. It really fucking hurts but, it will get better. In fact, the whole reason I went through this surgery is so it won’t hurt every damn day.
I don’t think I’ve posted about it, actually. I broke my heel back in March and it never healed properly, plus I had some severe other bone issues in my foot. So, the dr sliced it open, took out a chunk of bone, detached, then reattached my achilles tendon (with a titanium bolt, basically.) Plus, a bunch of holes were poked in the tendons to make more blood flow to them and turn the scar tissue back to tissue that will stretch and move. The achilles was reattached higher than normal in hopes that it will work better.
So, I sit here, or lay most of the time, as I am allowed no weight bearing on that foot. Nor am I allowed to sit up for long periods of time. I’m supposed to keep my big toe “level with my eyeball” in other words, propped way up.
Right now, I’m sitting up long enough to type a bit, as I am going crazy. But, not for long, as the pain gets worse the longer I sit.
For now, this is where I am. Surgery 1 down, a couple more to go.
And, since I’m trapped here, you’ll here more from me, as I can’t get busy.
Have a great day.
