Introducing...
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes on December 21st, 2006. Now, my diagnosis was not a shock as I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and have for years. Since PCOS is caused by, or causes, (drs are not sure which) insulin resistance and the majority of PCOSers do end up with diabetes, well, yeah not a shock.
Family history also played a part in my diabetes as multiple people on both sides of the family have diabetes.
This blog is being started so I can discuss diabetes less on my main journal, and more over here so as not to bore those who are uninterested in diabetes and diabetes management.
For those that follow this kind of thing, and for my own personal references in the future, I am on glyburide 2.5 once a day, metformin 1000 twice a day, cinnamon, chromium picolinate, and magnesium for blood sugar control. As of my last A1C that number was 5.2. I use an Ultra2 meter, with a Acucheck active as a backup.
And, that's it for a start. Welcome to Diabetes Happens, glad to have you here.
