 December 26, 2003

Twas the day after Christmas and all I did was sleep.

And sleep and sleep.  I am still sick, we're still at Tony's parents.  I am enjoying myself as best I can, but I feel horrible about being such a downer.  I can not concentrate on one thing for too long as my brain will not allow it.

I'm sitting here, willing myself to feel better and failing miserably.

I'm going to quit whining as it does not make me feel better, at all.

_________

We left Tony's parents late this evening, loaded into the van all our stuff, and started the hour long drive.  We hadn't driven even 10 minutes when we saw a van going very slow with the hazards lights flashing.

We pulled up behind it and saw that the passenger rear tire was flat.  Completely gone, and shredding, sparks were flying from the rim as it rolled forward.

It pulled to the side of the road and we pulled off with them.  An older gentleman got out of the van, looked at the tire, and asked Tony if he had a jack.

Tony pulled out his tools, a jack, and a flashlight, and changed the tire for the man.  A few minutes later we were all back on the road.  I sat in the van, watching Tony change the tire and grinned.

Tony's a good fellow.  He stops to help people all the time, he can't leave someone on the side of the road, alone.  We were on a long dark stretch of road where few cars pass late at night, especially the day after Christmas, in the cold.

I'm glad it worked out that we left that late, so that man didn't have to sit there, with no jack, and no way to contact anyone.  And I'm grateful that my husband is willing to help others, even in this world where people aren't always as they seem.

I hope that man got home to his family to spend the rest of his night, with no further problems.  As we got home fine, then snuggled together, happy as could be.  Right where I like to be on a cold winter's eve, in my husband's arms, thankful that the universe choose right for me.
Smile,
