fall

I bought Carpet Fresh No Vacuum carpet stuff today, in a Apple Cinnamon scent, it smells like fall, even if nothing else does.  It's entirely too warm for the end of October.  It's warm enough that I have the fan in the window and the front door wide open.

I want cool, crisp weather, damnit.  I want to wear my slippers, but other than the one cold snap it's not anywhere near cool enough.

My poor sad slippers are sitting underneath my desk, snuggled beside my sandals.  Yeah, October 21st, I'm still wearing sandals.  And capri pants (and no, I don't care if you think capri pants are ugly.  They are cooler than pants, longer than shorts, and damn-it-all-to-hell I like them.)

I want caramel apples and apple cider.  I want pumpkins and hay rides.  Although the weather is just like the weather five years ago.

Why do I remember the weather five years ago, this week, you ask?  (okay, humor me. I know you didn't ask) It's our anniversary week.  Friday is five years of marriage for Tony and I.  I can't even believe it's been five years.

I do remember the weather though; warm, sunny, too warm for the outfit I wore to our rehearsal dinner.  Like now, warm, sunny spring like weather, even though you can see a few leaves starting to turn their triumph of colors.

Oranges and rusts and reds and browns.  Sorta like the colors here, in the site design.  I wish I could surround myself with autumn all year like.

But, then would it lose the specialness of it?  Would I no longer like autumn?

I just don't know.

-------------------------------------

Hee, I wrote this yesterday, today it's been cool and crisp and all fall like.  The house smells like apple cinnamon still, only now I feel like baking a pie.

I wish I could carry the odors and feel of fall in my pocket, year round, and when I'm having one of those horrible, bad, no good days, pull it out and be happy again.
