 January 1, 2004

It's been a nice peaceful start to the year.  Tony and I never left the house today, instead we stayed home watching movies, playing video games, and relaxing.

The weather is beautiful, no rain, not very cold, in fact it's been in the upper 50s all day.  Nowhere we had to be, nothing that had to be done.  I completely quiet day, which we haven't had in a long time.   The only chore thing that got done was laundry.

We've snacked around on various things that I've set out during the day, some cheese, a few little oven baked things that we very seldom eat, chicken tenders, french fries, foods that we buy once in the odd blue moon.   Foods that I can make from scratch much better, but it's nice to have a night where eating only involves turning on the oven and shoving a pan in.

We watched The Matrix: Reloaded on DVD, being able to pause and rewind with that movies is a must.  It goes too fast in places to understand it entirely in a theater.  Tony played Enter The Matrix for a couple of hours, working on getting further through it.  It's really a very interesting game with a lot of cut scenes from the movies, plus additional scenes filmed just for the game.

Eventually we petered out, tired from the night previous, as we not only had gone out, but we also ferried several people home as they were not fit to drive.  I downloaded my email one last time and shut down the computer.  Tony put away the few things we had left out that needed to go away.

The television was turned to Nick at Nite, all the lights dimmed, my water pitcher filled, his water glass refilled, the alarm clock set in hopes that it would actually go off when it should.  We climbed into our bed, snuggling under our blue comforter that is covered in lighthouses, a kiss on the lips, one to my forehead.  The last thing I heard before I drifted off to sleep; I love you, Sue.  A wonderful end to the first day of the new year.
